UNA-UK wants to know why the next UN Secretary-General matters to you

With the UN Security Council due to begin deliberations on who should succeed Ban Ki-moon as Secretary-General, UNA-UK is calling on our members and supporters to share their views on why it is important to get the best possible UN leader at the end of this year.

With the help of our members and supporters, UNA-UK's 1 for 7 Billion campaign has pushed for reforms to make the selection of the next UN Secretary-General more transparent and inclusive. We now have clear selection criteria, a public list of candidates, and a series of informal dialogues between candidates and the General Assembly. UNA-UK is also proud to have co-hosted the first ever public debates with Secretary-General hopefuls in New York and London.

On 21 July, the Security Council will begin the process of selecting the next UN Secretary-General. The successful candidate will stand for the world's seven billion people and face the greatest challenges of our times, including climate change, terrorism and forced migration.

Fill in the form below and tell us why getting the best UN Secretary-General matters to you - your response could be included in the next issue of UNA-UK's New World magazine
