Peacekeepers Day Conference: Thursday 23 May 2024, 0930 - 1700 BST
This Conference, jointly organised by UNA-UK, RUSI and UNA Westminster, is the UK’s most authoritative public review of UN peacekeeping activities – bringing together UN practitioners, diplomats, military personnel and the public for an in-depth discussion on the most pressing issues in peacekeeping today.
This year our panel session features peacekeeping experts and practitioners from around the world, including:
- Whit Mason, RUSI Associate Fellow.
- Dr Alexandra Novosseloff, Senior Researcher on UN peacekeeping and post-conflict situations.
- Professor Neil Greenberg, Professor of Defence Mental Health, King’s College London.
- Lieutenant Colonel Sophie Gregory, Army Reservist.
We are delighted to be joined this year by Special Representative Colin Stewart, Head of the United Nations Mission in Cyprus. As our conference keynote speaker, Mr Stewart will discuss Cyprus at 60, reflecting on one of the longest-running UN peacekeeping operations.

Peacekeepers Day Ceremony: Thursday 23 May 2024, 1300 - 1400 BST
Our annual memorial ceremony in remembrance of peacekeepers who have lost their lives in the service of global peace will take place on 23 May. Over the past 76 years, UN peacekeepers have contributed to transforming lives in different countries, sometimes in extraordinary and dangerous conditions.
This is a unique and important opportunity to pay our respects to the nearly 4400 peacekeepers who have lost their lives serving under the UN flag since 1948.
To watch this remarkable event, you can join spectators near the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London, at 1300 on Thursday 23 May 2024.
