Worsening global warfare has increased global military spending as if war is inevitable and normal. This further marginalises United Nations and negates hope for legally binding peaceful solutions. The UK Government along with others, are educating their populations on the necessity to prepare for war, to win approval for increasing defence budgets at the expense of public services & benefits and foreign aid.
We aim to counter this by enhancing education for peace. First, we will discuss how peace begins where you are in mind and spirit, works through the nation, and comes to fruition where governments are - at the United Nations. Second, as an example of how to end all wars, we will introduce a proposal that advocates a new approach for securing a permanent peace in Israel and Palestine. All opposing parties should learn an empathic understanding of each other so as to adopt a caring, cooperative style of negotiation for reaching mutually beneficial solutions.
