UNA Bexhill & Hastings: If the United Nations was founded for World Peace, Why is the World at War?

For our 5th annual UN Day Peace Event, against an informative UN Exhibition, we invite everyone to join us in a cafe style quiz to explore, analyse and discuss the terrible topical question: of If the UN was founded for World Peace, why is the World at War?

In order to properly address this situation, we believe we have to begin with the UNA's main purpose, which is to educate people about how the UN works and then to facilitate them to campaign for a more effective UN. Hopefully, with such knowledge, people will feel more confident and motivated to become part of an organised civil society. And as such, they can then influence their government to make the UN work how it is supposed to work according to its Charter - an international treaty.

We believe that we have to resolve the dreadful problem of warfare - in all its forms - before solutions found to address all other problems will be sustained.
