Updated:

UNA-UK is delighted to announce the launch of its Responsibility to Protect (R2P) policy programme, with generous funding from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (Peace grant). Building on a growing international awareness and support amongst states to protect populations within and outside their borders, UNA-UK’s new programme – Protecting populations from atrocities: implementing the Responsibility to Protect – will seek to:

  1. Consolidate a national R2P policy-support network
  2. Build support for R2P within the UK Government, national and regional political parties
  3. Establish greater international political constituency for R2P
  4. Build grassroots support for R2P, in the UK

We are also delighted to welcome Alexandra Buskie to the UNA-UK staff team as our new R2P Programme Officer. Alex is a graduate of Glasgow University and formerly worked at the Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies, Montreal, and in the constituency office of Nicol Stephen, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Aberdeen South.

For more information regarding UNA-UK’s R2P programme, contact Alex on buskie@una.org.uk or 020 7766 3445.
