Local UNAs commemorate victims of Srebrenica genocide

In the lead up to the 20th year since thousands of Bosnian Muslims were systematically slaughtered in Srebrenica, UNA-UK asked our local branches to highlight this important anniversary in their local newspaper.

In honouring the memory of past victims, UNA-UK believes that it is crucial for the UK Government to learn the lessons of the past. We invited our local branches to write a letter to the editor of their local newspaper, remembering the murder of 8,000 men and boys in Srebrenica and calling for the UK to strengthen its commitment to preventing similar atrocities in the future.

A letter by UNA Norwich and District was featured in the Eastern Daily Press on Saturday 11 July, while a letter from our Tunbridge Wells branch was published in the Tunbridge Wells Times on Wednesday 15 July. These newspapers have a combined circulation of over 70,000 copies, plus online editions.

The letters can be viewed in the 'hall of fame' below.
