Bill Rammell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire and former Foreign Office minister, gave an interesting and well received talk on Globalisation and Education.
He emphasised the importance of globalisation, especially in education, and the dangers of isolationism. He was especially concerned about the increasing disillusion with politics, and the development of nationalist movements that encouraged fear of immigration. As for the UN, it needs structural reform to improve its response to human rights abuses and humanitarian crises.
