Niall Fry, a former monitoring officer with the World Health Organisation, will be the guest speaker at an event put on by the Rotary Club of Havant whose members have been working closely with the United Nations Association (UNA) to help put an end to the disease.
Individuals and businesses are being encouraged to attend the fundraising event at Havant Borough Council on 28 February.
Every penny raised will be tripled by Bill Gates, a supporter of the polio eradication programme through his charitable foundation.
Viv Williams, chairman of the UNA, said: ‘The End Polio Now Campaign is the largest and most ambitious programme of endemic disease eradication undertaken in modern times.
‘It is serving as an example to others. Rotarians across the globe are leading the fight in their countries and funding is badly needed.
‘We would like as many people as possible to come along to hear how any donation made is tripled by the Make History Today campaign funded by the Gates family.’
