Dr Monawar Hussain is an Oxford businessman, Imam at Eton College, and the founder of The Oxford Foundation, which seeks to support vulnerable, disaffected and low achieving young people through innovative educational programmes. He successfully piloted an educational programme confronting violent extremist ideology which has been used to train Religious Education teachers in the UK. Passionate about interfaith dialogue between the world's faiths, he sits on a number of advisory boards including that of the Three Faiths’ Forum and in 2010 addressed the ambassadors who represent their countries in the UK to seek ways of expanding this work internationally. Dr Hussain read theology at Oxford University and law and retail management at Oxford Brookes University, where he is a member of the university court. He was appointed a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire in 2009.
