Search launched for diplomats of tomorrow

On Friday 29 May, university students, experts and policy makers will gather at the prestigious UN headquarters of the International Maritime Organization in London to consider a nuclear-free United Kingdom.

UNA-UK recently launched a public search for students to be part of this exclusive team. Students interested in exploring creative solutions to global issues should enter our competition as soon as possible.

15 youth representatives will be selected. They will use a roundtable debating format to generate ideas on a British defence strategy that doesn’t include nuclear weapons.  How would we defend ourselves in a dangerous world? What would we lose and gain? How would we communicate with our friends and enemies?

As well as meeting UN, Government and NGO representatives over lunch, participants will also be invited to a post-event complimentary wine reception and careers networking event.

Getting involved is easy, watch the video below and visit this event’s webpage for full details.

All full-time students of UK universities are eligible to apply. Travel expenses will be covered, giving everyone the chance to attend.

The deadline for the first round of applications is 1 April (later entries will be accepted until 22 April) so students should apply as soon as possible.
