Executive Director discusses UN issues with UNA Twickenham & Richmond

On 22 March, UNA-UK Executive Director Natalie Samarasinghe discussed the challenges facing the international community, and the role of the UN and UK in addressing them, with members of UNA Twickenham and Richmond.

Situating UNA-UK within this context, she outlined the Association's plans for the coming year. UN Forum 2014 - which will tackle the question "Can Britain still cut it on the world stage?" - will mark the beginning of UNA-UK's work in the lead-up to the UK's general election. Following this, the Association will focus on commemorating its and the UN's 70th anniversaries.

Held in a local pub, the meeting prompted a lively discussion, with members raising issues from the difficulties of achieving UN reform to the recent report by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on the Holy See, and the Vatican's reaction.
