As part of celebrating the UN's 70th aniversary, Exeter's Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Lesley Robson, was presented with a commemorative copy of the UN Charter.
The presentation was made by Professor Neil Armstrong, President of Exeter and District UNA, at the launch of a two week exhibition in the Cathedral. The exhibition was put together by local students and depicted young people's perspectives on the work of the UN, in the form of a video montage.
Philipa Wright, from Exeter and District UNA reported how the students work was "Thought-provoking and remarkably skilful... imaginatively depicting their perception of the multidisciplinary work of the UN in areas such as women’s rights, the environment, refugees and education."
Following the Charter presentation the Deputy Mayor presented participating schools with copies of the Declaration of Human Rights.
The Exmouth Journal printed a report of the occasion in an article headed “Pupils help celebrate 70 years of UN”. Pupils, from local schools, were at the heart of creating the exhibition displayed in Exeter Cathedral. Here we see a display at County Hall.
