The United Nations at 70 - celebrations across the UK

UNA-UK, along with its local UNA branches and supporters across the country, celebrated the UN's 70th birthday in style.

From prominent buildings turning blue, to a UN-themed cake, to high-level debates on UN effectiveness - the anniversary was marked in a multitude of inspiring and constructive ways. Our Storify round-up of the highlights can be found below.

The initiatives highlighted the vital contribution the UN continues to make to our collective security and its importance as a lifeline for millions of people. UNA-UK is calling on the UK Government to mark the UN's 70th birthday by acknowledging the extent to which our security and prosperity depend on an effective UN.
