This September, all 193 UN member states will gather in New York for the opening of the 67th session of the General Assembly.
From the arms trade to sustainable development, the rule of law to communicable diseases, the Assembly tackles the most pressing challenges facing the world today and works to improve the lives of people everywhere.
The Assembly is often described as the closest thing there is to a world parliament. Each country, large or small, rich or poor, has a single vote, and although its decisions are not binding, they carry the weight of world governmental opinion.
These are your leaders discussing issues that affect your lives - it's your General Assembly 2012. Will you be watching?
