Freshers’ fairs 2014 – should we leave global problems to the ‘grown-ups’?

Published on

Updated:

This year, UNA Youth branches at university freshers’ fairs across the country will challenge students to engage with the global problems that face us all.

Students visiting freshers' fair stands will be greeted by contentious statements questioning their role in international affairs. Tongue-in-cheek suggestions like “students should leave foreign policy to the grown-ups”, will counter serious opinions like “students should take control of their future”. Whatever your outlook, these statements won’t fail to stimulate debate.

To add visual flair and fun, branches will festoon their stalls with attention-grabbing posters, branded balloons and inflatable globes.

Visitors will be asked to sign a pledge to get more involved with the international debate. This pledge will serve to keep them in touch with their youth branch and UNA-UK as well as giving them the chance to receive a free UNA-UK globe.

UNA Youth branches wishing to participate should click here to read full details and express their interest. There are a limited number of freshers’ fair packs so branches should sign up as soon as possible.

Individuals interested in this campaign should find their university’s UNA Youth branch at their freshers’ fair or consider establishing a branch of their own. All university students are welcome to sign our online pledge.
