After a short business meeting Helen Buni will speak on "The importance of the IMO's 2019 plans for "Empowering Women in the Maritime Community"" the theme for the 2019 World Maritime Day ”.
Helen Buni is a Principal Programme Assistant for Resource Mobilization and Partnerships in the Office of the Director of the Technical Cooperation Division of the International Maritime Organisation. She is involved in the IMO’s gender programme with conferences, plans for the empowerment of women in many countries, obtaining funds for training women so they can be employed in the shipping industry. She encourages regional and local groups to support women in these ventures.
