Russia's view of the World: Its foreign policy in relation to the UN, US, EU and especially the Middle East 

Guest Speaker: Dr Derek Averre

Dr Averre is a Senior Lecturer in Russian Foreign and Security Policy and is also a Senior Research Fellow on an on-going Government funded project on arms control and economic transition and was Director of Centre for Russian and East European Studies at Birmingham University. He has presented widely at both academic and policy-related conferences and seminars in the UK (including Wilton Park and Chatham House), Europe and North America. 

Dr Averre has presented oral and written evidence at recent House of Commons and House of Lords inquiries and maintains strong links with the FCO. He has written extensively on New. Challenges in Postcommunist Europe and European Security issues and Demokratizatsiya.

Dr Averre will address the local UNA on Russia`s role in the Syrian conflict, its activities in the UN, and what all this means in the context of Russian`s official foreign policy. "Should be an interesting debate" - his comment..
