A Panel of five members have been invited who are specialists in their particular field relating to international issues. Set of questions be invited from our members covering international issues and these would be made known to the Panelists prior to the event. This would give the Panel members an opportunity to "do their homework" on the questions and not be put on the spot on the day.
Five Panel Members are:
DR MARWAN DARWEISH - Principal Lecturer in Peace & Reconciliation Studies, Coventry University. Specialist in Middle East politics.
Dr Marwan Darweish`s key research interests are in peace processes, conflict transformation and nonviolence, specifically in the Middle East region with a focus on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. He has vast experience in leading training courses for peacebuilding and conflict transformation. He is currently reseachng the nonviolent movement in Palestine and the role of the Israeli and international groups.
CHRIS WHITE - Member of Parliament for Warwick & Leamington Spa. Member of the House of Commons Select Committe on International Development
NATALIE SAMARASINGHE - UNA-UK Executive Director
Natalie leads the UNA-UK staff team in undertaking advocacy and outreach in support of the organisation`s mission to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world. At present, Natalie is undertaking research on UK representation within the UN system, and working on an eight-volume compendium of articles on the United Nations for SAGE Publications, co-edited with Sam Daws.
STEVE HUCKLESBY - Senior Policy Advisor serving the Methodist Church, Baptist Union of Great Britain and the United Reform Church.
Steve's area of expertise is international affairs, working in particular on non-proliferarion and disarmament, peace and security and climate change.
Awaiting confirmation from the Lib-Dem EUROPEAN UNION MEP representing Warwickshire to be the fifth Panel member.
If you intend on coming and wish to participate in the debate then we would appreciate if you can let us have a question or two asap to be put to the Panel on any international issue which you may consider important to you.
Please do come along and bring a friend. It would be helpful to know if you are definitely able to attend so that we have some idea about catering (Ploughmans Lunch & Coffee £3.50 per head).
