Guest Speakers: Dr Samuel Jarvis, Lecturer in International Relations at York St John University
Samuel will speak on the current challenges facing the UN Security Council in light of one of its permanent members invading Ukraine and the fallout from the on-going conflict. What effect has this had on the authority of the Council and its deliberations? Has Russia`s actions in Ukraine further weakened the Council - given the fact that it has always received very poor publicity because of its veto power? Samuel will take stock of the Council’s overall performance in 2022 and reflect on the key challenges the Security Council faces in the coming months.
