UNA Warwick & District: Forgotten Futures & Destroyed Within

The last eighteen months has been unprecedented with emergencies, both
man-made and natural, have caused misery and trauma for millions of people
acrosss the world. The conflict in Syria slipping into fourth year and
typhoon- Philippines may have captured the headlines, but the forgotten crises
in the Central African Republic and Southern Sudan, continue to force thousands
from their homes amid death and destruction.

The biggest challenge for the UN and the international aid Agencies is their
ability and capacity to respond to an ever- increasing number of crises across
the globe. Crucial issue is that resources are becoming more and more pressing.

The local UNA has invited two of the well known international aid agencies to
come and share,demonstrate and give presentation of how they are meeting
the needs of the refugees and displaced people in the camps. Perhaps this
may stir up conscience as to how we should react and respond to such
emergencies.

The local Scouts Groups and their parents have been invited to attend this
event to enable the Scouts to learn about the refugees problems around the
world. This is to assist the youngster who are working towards achieving their
Global Citizen Badges.
