In association with the Saffron Walden branch of the United Nations Association, Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra will present an Armistice Day concert to commemorate the centenary of the end of the Great War. The concert takes place on Sunday 11 November at 3pm in Saffron Hall, Audley End Road, Saffron Walden CB11 4UH.

The concert will feature music by composers who died on both sides of the front such as Rudi Stephan’s Musik für Orchester, Frederick Kelly’s Elegy for String Orchestra, as well as Vaughan Williams’ Pastoral Symphony, written just after the Great War, but widely acknowledged as being a tribute to those who gave their lives in World War 1.

The concert will include some readings of letters from World War 1.

Tickets (£18, £15 and £3 for under 18s) are available from Saffron Hall Box Office
