This one-off event to raise awareness of a wonderful charity, named Idebate Rwanda, that is using public speaking and debating to improve young people's lives, will feature a presentation by a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide in which almost a million people were killed in the space of just 3 months. They will describe their experiences and the genocide's lasting impact on their lives.

We will also hear from the Rwandan High Commission about the country's phenomenal economic recovery in the 20 years since then, and from Idebate Rwanda themselves on how school debating clubs are helping young people to talk about the genocide and its causes for the first time.

There will also be a one hour masterclass on public speaking and debating delivered by the Central London Debating Society.
