Around 100 people attended this year's UN Earth Day Event in Dover which was co-hosted by the Canterbury and Deal UNA branches.
Stephen Hockman QC and Dr Biermann spoke about the urgent need for changes to the United Nations in order to be able to meet our international climate obligations and avoid dangerous climate change. In particular, they posited that an International Court for the Environment and a World Environment Organisation needed to be created urgently. At the UN's inception, environment pressures and politics were not recognised nor foreseen.
