Do you know who will be the next head of the United Nations?

Neither do we, nor anyone else in the world apart from a handful of high-ranking diplomats. Secretary-Generals are chosen in secret negotiations by only five nations out of almost two hundred.

Think that’s unfair?

We do, too. In 70 years, the UN has barely reformed its most important office. Its selection remains undemocratic, the Secretary-General is not held accountable, and no woman has ever been seriously considered for the position.

Ben Donaldson is a seasoned campaigner at UNA-UK, and will be coming to Essex to speak with students about UNA-UK's 1 for 7 Billion campaign. This is your time to think about what can be done to improve the UN and the way it works for every person in the world.

Ben will be ready to answer your questions on the United Nations and how it can be improved on Tuesday 17 November at 7pm in LTB 7.
