Ben has over eight years’ experience running UK and international campaigns on UN issues. Having joined UNA-UK two years earlier, in 2013 he co-launched the 1 for 7 Billion campaign – an international initiative widely credited with revolutionising the way the UN selects its Secretary-General.
As UNA-UK’s Head of Campaigns, Ben coordinates the charity’s Together First campaign to give civil society a greater voice in global decision-making. He also leads the Organisation’s policy work on arms control and disarmament, with a particular focus on international processes and UK advocacy to improve nuclear security, ban lethal autonomous weapons systems and regulate arms exports.
Ben represents the organisation on various international coalitions including ICAN, the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots and Control Arms and is a member of the UK Working Group on Arms and Rethinking Security’s Council. Ben is responsible for coordinating the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the United Nations.
After acquiring a Post Graduate Certificate in Global Governance and Public Policy and accumulating 4 years of communication and campaigning experience, Ben joined UNA-UK in April 2011. Prior to this, Ben spent a year living in NW Thailand near the Myanmar border working for the Karen Hilltribes Trust.
