UNA-UK's international development and environment programme focuses on three issues crucial to building a more sustainable world: building food security, growing responsibly and tackling poverty.
- Food security is the essential first step towards a better future. UNA-UK will work with its partners around the world to promote strategies that address immediate challenges, such as food prices, and promote longer-term resilience, including for production, consumption and distribution.
- International climate architecture: An effective multilateral framework is needed to develop and coordinate a global blueprint for a low-carbon world. UNA-UK will work with decision-makers and civil society on how to address climate change and promote sustainable development at the local, national and international levels.
- Supporting the UN Millennium Development Goals remains a top priority for UNA-UK. We will also encourage the development of a framework to address proverty in a strategic and equitable manner beyond 2015 - the target date for achieving the Goals.
