The ‘Responsibility to Protect’
In 2005, at the United Nations World Summit, world leaders unanimously agreed that states have a ‘Responsibility to Protect’ (R2P) populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. UNA-UK has seized upon a growing international commitment to the principle of R2P, and works to galvanise political support from national and regional parties, while fostering support for the principles of R2P within the public domain.
