UNA-UK's peace and security programme focuses on three issues crucial to building a safer world: nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation; preventing and resolving conflict; and emerging security challenges.
- Nuclear weapons continue to represent one of the greatest threats to international security. Through its flagship Towards Zero programme, UNA-UK works with decision-makers, experts and civil society, nationally and internationally, to strengthen support for multilateral nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
- Peacekeeping, peacebuilding and conflict prevention are instrumental in protecting civilians around the world from violence. UNA-UK advocates strong government support for UN peacekeeping and encourages partnerships and projects that foster negotiation, mediation and reconciliation.
- Emerging security issues, such as cyber-crime, climate change and resource scarcity, must be addressed and tackled effectively and comprehensively. UNA-UK supports the development of innovative frameworks and mechanisms to tackle these new challenges at the international level.
